Spalding fell to a heavy defeat against a seemingly well fortified Ely side.

Spalding started the game with a first for the club with a whole team of fathers and sons took to the pitch as the starting XI.

Ely took the lead early into the encounter before Pete Wright equalised after ten minutes.

The first half remained relatively tight with Ely taking the lead and Spalding failing to make anything of their superior short corner count.

In the second half the game remained end to end, but Ely were more clinical on the break and added 4 more goals to go 6-1 in front.

the two teams then shared the last four goals of the game with Wright lining up Danny Wright who coolly slotted home before Dave Burrell found Pete Wright who was able to turn and score to make the final score 8-3.

Spalding have a final game away at Wisbech next Saturday to down the curtain on the league season.
