Spalding were eager to attack hard from the start of the game due to anticipating a hard game against Cambs South.
The hard press worked in Spalding’s favour as Amy Naylor took ball into the D from the left, along base line and neatly passed the ball across the goal to Honor Moore who slotted it home to score (on her 1’s debut!!). Spalding reset ready to go again.
Unfortunately, the opposition were awarded a penalty stroke following an initial save from Jemima which then bobbled from a Cams player to a hit at goal. The ball hit Spalding’s player on the line. Cambs then scored the penalty stroke.
The scoreline stood 1:1 at half time.
Spalding came out strong second half with some great play in the middle. Early on a break from Cams gave them a 3 on 2 overload which they converted to take the score to 2:1. With a strong push from Spalding for the rest of the half saw a number of short corner opportunities but the solid defence from Cams held out.
The game ended 2:1 to Cambs. Fantastic efforts from Spalding this week, we go again next week!
