After another week off due to bad weather Spalding ladies 2s were back on the pitch against Ely 2s in pursuit of reaching the top spot. The first 20 minutes proved frustrating as Spalding made so many attempts in the opposition D with shots at the goal and numerous short corners. Finally a few minutes later Roz Dennis took a confident straight strike at the goal neatly slotting the ball into the left corner. Spalding were now fired up and the attack continued with Kelly Cooper taking on the keeper and achieving another short corner in the 33rd minute. Another strong injection to Roz Dennis at the top, rebounding the ball back to Charlotte Maplethorpe on the post put the team at 2-0 at half time. Ely played hard and reformed putting the midfield and defence at times under pressure but communication was solid at the back ensuring Ely were not going to get on the score sheet. Second half resulted in about 10 more short corners, millimetres out Spalding were not deterred even after a saved penalty stroke. Finally in the 55th minute Kelly Cooper received a fine cross from speedy Charlotte Maplethorpe securing a result of 3-0. Well done to Roz Dennis and Charlotte Maplethorpe for being awarded joint MOTM .
