Spalding Ladies 3s 1 St Neots Ladies 2s 2

Early on a bright, sunny but frosty morning, Spalding travelled away with the hope of another three points. The team (depleted in numbers) dug deep throughout the game and worked well in parts. They were able to ensure that from the back it met the midfielders before reaching the talent of Chloe P and Samantha Foston up front.  These two certainly caused St Neots problems and ensured that we had chances and opportunities throughout the game. Both sides utilised the skills of their keepers first half but ensure it remained 0-0.

After half time, Foston ran and dribbled through many players to win a short corner that captain Charlotte Morris struck at the corner for Player of the match Eloise Doherty to tap in to take the lead. Vicky Worral seized the opportunity to man mark their key player and slow St Neots down. Spalding began to dominate with Sharon Amess and Camille Rogers winning the balls and sending them wide and Spalding winning many short corners. Suddenly with a foot in the D, the opposition utilised their own short corner with many rebounds and snuck it past the Spalding defence. Spalding keeper, Eliza Morris certainly found her feet and voice the second half making some crucial saves whilst directing her team. They were all determined to grab a point. The end looked in sight when with one minute to go, a mishit led to St Neots grabbing a fantastic goal resulting in a loss for Spalding. Morris could not have asked for any more from her players and is eager for next week’s game.
