Spalding Ladies’ 2s travelled to a very sandy Kettering pitch hoping to pick up their first points on the road.
Working their way into the D on numerous occasions, Spalding were awarded a hatful of penalty corners but were unable to convert.
Eliza Morris in goal and her defence continued to repel a Kettering team who improved as the game went on.
The half time break saw the two sides level with all to play for as chances continued to come both ends.
Unfortunately it was a decisive touch from a Kettering forward that saw the only goal of the game scored with barely two minutes remaining.
Spalding hope to get back to winning ways next week at home. Man of match Steph Wilson
