Match report

Spalding arrived in Cambridge with a determined attitude. During the first half they battled hard, producing well worked play. Unfortunately the opposition were awarded a short corner in which they were able to convert a goal. Meaning they took a 1-0 lead against the run of play. Freya worked hard and kept their lead to only 1 with some great saves.

As the half time whistle blew Spalding regrouped with a positive half time talk tightening tactics. It worked a dream resulting in 2 goals in just 2 minutes. The first came from a short corner skill fully won by joint MOM Jess. The short injection accurately passed to Evie who trapped the ball and slapped it into the corner of the goal. Making the score 1-1. Shortly following this Lauren H picked up a deflection and nicked it past the keeper putting Spalding in a deserved lead. We continued to apply pressure using the well worked new formation. As play continued joint MOM Erin the birthday girl received a strong ball from Ellie that she effortlessly worked round the keeper to make the score 3-1.

Overall, this was a great boost for Spalding, kickstarting our season!
