A young Spalding team side played Newmarket and unfortunately lost 11-0. It was a good performance from Simon Goode, who got player of the match, but also goal keeper Eddie Sawyer, who made some quality saves against the opposition. The opposing side scored some very good goals, but several goals were avoidable, the opposition only won one short corner in the game despite the score line.
Strangely for an 11-0 game it wasn’t all one way traffic and the game transferred from end to end throughout. We had chances but were not clinical enough. While this was a disappointing result and unfortunate outcome, it will act as important learning curve for the youngsters in the team, who will come back better and stronger in the future.
The game was played in good spirit and Newmarket were very complimentary about the way the young side tried to play the game.
