Spalding men’s 2’s  vs  Cambs City

A tough game for spalding 2’s as they travelled away to Cambridge for an unfortunate 3-0 loss.

Spalding started the game strong maintaining possession of the ball with some great play through the middle thanks to Matt Pottle and Matt Sanders and some good forward play allowing for some chances on goal. However, midway into the quarter cambs city were able to take the lead with a reverse stick shot which found the net of the goal, giving them a 1-0 lead. Although they were a goal down Spalding continued the battle hard and apply great amounts of pressure onto the opposition until half time, with near misses from Finn Roy and Matt Pottle.

As the second half began Spalding continued to hold the majority of the ball entering the opponent’s D on multiple occasions, but after a swift counter attack Cambridge were able to win a short corner in which the managed to convert after a straight strike found the bottom left corner, increasing Cambridge’s lead to 2-0. After the goal spalding took their eye off the ball and started to sit back which allowed Cambridge to play through eventually leading to another goal from a slap just inside the D finding its way between Rob Callaby’s legs ending the game 3-0.
