A dominant performance saw Spalding secure an impressive 6–1 victory.
It didn’t take long to get going, as Sam Foston opened the scoring in the 6th minute with a mazy run, calmly slotting past the keeper to make it 1–0. Just five minutes later, Sam Foston struck again after a lovely build-up involving Lucy McClements and Jess Pilgrim, doubling the lead at 2–0.
At the other end, goalkeeper Anya produced some great saves to keep the opposition at bay and preserve the advantage.
In the 32nd minute, Isla Worrall extended the lead to 3–0 following a beautiful team move, finished off after a perfectly timed slip pass from Sam Foston. The opposition pulled one back a minute later (3–1), which was the score going into half-time.
The second half continued in the same vein. In the 57th minute, Jess Worth showed brilliant movement to meet a pinpoint free hit from Kelly Tizzano making it 4–1. Five minutes later, Lucy McClements added a fifth after capitalising on a great assist from the defence.
The scoring was rounded off in the 70th minute with a well-worked penalty corner routine — a slow, composed injection from Kelly Tizzano to the far post, where Jess Worth was perfectly placed to finish and seal a 6–1 win.
A superb team performance with great attacking play and solid defensive work throughout.
