Match Report: Spalding Men’s 4s vs City of Peterborough 7s

Spalding Men’s 4s delivered a highly competitive performance at Glen Park but were narrowly defeated 3–2 by City of Peterborough 7s.

The 4s made a bright start, with Alex Myland and John Clark both scoring in the first half. The game was evenly poised at half-time, with the score level at 2–2.

In the second half, Spalding remained competitive throughout, working hard across the pitch. Samuel Willerton was outstanding in midfield, breaking up play, distributing effectively, and driving the team forward, earning Man of the Match. Elliot Ashton caused constant problems for the visitors with his pace and direct running.

Defensively, James Giles, James Morris, and Kev Sawyer were solid and disciplined, making crucial tackles and clearances. Isaac Davidson, Sam Hicks, and Matthew Dorsett also showed excellent progress, contributing effectively across the pitch.

The younger players are gaining valuable experience in men’s matches, developing their skills and confidence while helping the team compete against strong opposition. Overall, Spalding have shown encouraging progress in recent weeks, and despite the narrow defeat, there are plenty of positives to build on for the remainder of the season.
