Match Report – Cambridge South 5s 2–3 Spalding Men’s 4s
Spalding Men’s 4s travelled to Cambridge South 5s and came away with a hard-fought 3–2 victory in a competitive away fixture. Possession ebbed and flowed between the teams throughout, with both sides creating opportunities and testing each other at every turn.
Spalding started strongly and opened the scoring, only for Cambridge to respond quickly, bringing the score level at 1–1 by half-time. The first half was tightly contested, with both sides enjoying periods of possession but neither able to break the deadlock again before the break.
Spalding came out of the interval focused and determined, taking control of the second half. They added two goals to take a 3–1 lead, showing great teamwork and persistence in attack.
Isaac Davidson worked tirelessly on the wing, while Sam Hicks demonstrated excellent marking and track-back in defence, helping the team maintain their advantage.
Cambridge did not give up and scored in the closing minutes to make the scoreline 3–2, but Spalding’s defence held firm to secure the win.
Man of the Match went to Ed Sly for his outstanding performance and influence on the game.
This was a true team effort, turning early pressure and equalisation into a controlled second-half performance.
Spalding will take confidence from this result as they prepare for the next match at The Pelicans.
