Spalding Ladies 3s vs Oundle 1s.
Spalding Ladies 3s travelled to Oundle for a top‑of‑the‑table clash that promised intensity from the first whistle. The opening half was a tense affair, with both sides battling hard but unable to find a breakthrough. Spalding’s defensive unit stood strong, with goalkeeper Anya Knights producing key saves to keep the score level. Leanne Issac‑Pick held firm at centre back and organised the defence with composure, whilst Terri Robinson kept their key goal scorer marked. Megan Wright and Kiki Timmins worked tirelessly to break down Oundle’s attacks, with Kiki’s relentless energy earning her Player of the Match.
In midfield, Lucy Wilson and Kelly Tizzano disrupted Oundle’s rhythm and linked play effectively, to Jess Pilgrim who made many of her legendary runs down the right wing into the D, passing across, to the P spot to create opportunities for Sam Foston and Lucy McClements. Who could just not get it past the Oundle keeper. Jess Worth provided pace and width on the left wing. Khloe Brewster added fresh legs to the forward line. Despite Spalding’s efforts, the score remained 0–0 at half‑time, reflecting the balance of play and the determination shown across the pitch.
The second half saw Oundle begin to edge ahead. Their first goal came from open play, breaking Spalding’s resistance. The hosts then doubled their lead through a penalty flick, clinically dispatched to make it 2–0. Spalding responded with energy from Isla Worrall and Millie Barker who rotated across the wings and centre midfield to inject pace and maintain pressure. Spalding continued to battle until the final whistle, showing grit and organisation, but were unable to find a way back into the game, against a more experienced Oundle side.
The final score of 0–2 was a tough result in a fiercely contested fixture, but Spalding demonstrated resilience, teamwork, and commitment throughout. With strong performances across the pitch and a defensive display that held Oundle at bay for much of the match, the team can take pride in their effort and look forward to bouncing back in the next round of fixtures in the New Year after a well earned  Christmas break .
