Report: 1st XI Men vs Cambs Uni 3s – November 29, 2025
Spalding 1’s 3 vs 0 Cambridge Uni 3s
Spalding welcomed Cambridge Uni to Glen Park on a miserable, gloomy Saturday afternoon.
The game started with Spalding seeing a huge amount of possession and some good play trying breaking down the Uni defense. Spalding saw many shots trickle past the back post, just requiring a little tap to steal the score line.
Finally Spalding broke the deadlock with a well worked short corner. Stu Cunnington’s initial attempt on goal was parried to Arron Borst waiting on the back post who tapped the ball in to the Uni goal. Even though the score line was not in Uni’s favor they stayed resilient in a defensive setup and allowed Spalding to apply more pressure from the pushback.
Even though Spalding dominated play the score line stayed 1-0 till the end of the first half.
The second half started with some more equal play between the sides with a lot of back and forth between the two teams. With time ticking by, Spalding upped a gear and found themselves in the opposition D where they were able to get another short corner. The ball came out to the top of the D where Ethan Pearson was waiting ready. He took two steps towards the goal and unleashed an unstoppable strike into the bottom corner.
Uni tried replying with some play of their own which only allowed Spalding to find more pockets of space. After a Uni attack broke down Spalding played the ball out quickly and after some neat passing through the middle Harry Walsh was able to play a perfect ball to the back post where Will Baker was able to slot the ball home and seal the scoreline for the day.
