Report: 1st XI Ladies vs Ipswich 2s – October 18, 2025

Published by Charlotte Maplethorpe on

Spalding Ladies came out strong in a confident 2-0 win over Ipswich.

Just 8 minutes in, Charlotte Maplethorpe delivered a great pass to the back post, where Hennie Boekestyn slotted home the well-worked tap-in to give Spalding an early lead. Through great defence, the team held firm and went into the break 1-0 up, pushing the opposition back on their advances towards goal.

Barely two minutes into the second half, Lauren Spenceley – Player of the Match – doubled the advantage with a deflection from the far post, assisted by Georgina Maplethorpe.

Despite going down to 10 players after a green card, Spalding’s defence held their ground with help from the midfield, keeping Ipswich at bay. Soon after, the opposition also received a green card, giving Spalding the advantage and securing a well-earned clean sheet.
