Report: 3rd XI Ladies vs Kettering 3s – October 11, 2025

Published by Terri Bateman on

Spalding Ladies’ 3s battled to a hard-fought 3-2 win after a difficult start but an outstanding finish in what turned out to be a thrilling match.
Spalding dominated against an experienced team who put the league leaders under pressure. However, the visitors managed to break through when Sam Foston’s pass to Isla Worrall secured their first goal. Just before the end of the first half the Kettering found themselves in an almost empty D to take the opportunity to slot it in levelling the score to 1-1.
The second half saw a much improved performance from the whole team. Passing became sharper, the press more coordinated, and the energy levels lifted across the pitch. After Spalding were awarded a penalty corner, Khloe Brewster put Spalding ahead with a good finish after a scramble in the D.
Kettering pulled Spalding’s keeper out of position to score themselves another goal. After lots of tackles in the defensive D, the ball was played out to Jess Pilgrim who drove down the line passing to Worth and back into the D to Worrall to score the final goal in the last few minutes and give the visitors all 3 points.
It was a game of two halves – after a shaky opening, the team showed fantastic determination, composure, and teamwork to turn things around and finish strongly. A well deserved 3-2 victory that highlighted both our resilience and attacking qualities.
