Spalding welcomed Ely to Glen Park on a sunny afternoon in a top of the table clash looking to continue their good start to the season.

Spalding, missing 4 regular players were rocked by the late withdrawal of Ethan Pearson, but spurred on by their team mates words went out looking to take control of the game.

Spalding instantly got hold of the ball and struck within 3 minutes. Stu Cunnington finding space on the edge of the D and firing a back stick shot into the bottom corner. Spalding continued to press and went 2-0 up when Will Baker and Harry Walsh combining up front and Baker slotting the ball past the keeper.

Spalding continued to pass and probe with the ball around the pitch and Stu Cunnington stepped up with 2 penalty corners that found the roof of the net to extend Spaldings lead to 4-0. With the half coming to a close another penalty corner found the net this time courtesy of Jacob Baker finishing off a brilliant move which saw him deflect past the keeper.

Spalding headed into the break 5-0 up and regrouped looking to build on their first half performance.

Spalding came out of the second half second best and some good save from Oscar Haunch preserved his clean sheet. On the break a fine through ball found Harry Walsh who expertly finished past the ok rushing keeper to make it 6-0. Walsh added to his tally for the day 10 minutes later when a fine team move saw him tap in at the back post.

Spalding soaked up Ely pressure who continued to search for a goal but resolute defending from the back line kept them at bay. With Ely continuing to make attacks this opened up more space for Spaldings attacking players and 2 fine solo individual efforts from Jacob Baker saw the final score of 9-0.
