Ladies 1’s vs Dereham Ladies 2’s
In the first game of the season Spalding travelled away to play Dereham 2s. The match started off well with an early shot on target, and some great linking play between the midfield and upfront. Spalding were denied many chances, and Dereham capitalised in the final few minutes of the first half. After a positive half time team talk from manager Zoe, Spalding came out fighting creating some great opportunities. Having only played 10 minutes of the second half Georgina Maplethorpe made it 1-1 after dribbling the ball past multiple players in the D and flicking it past the keeper. Spalding continued strong keeping possession, and controlling game play from the back. After an altercation in the D, Dereham were awarded an unfair flick, Freya Lee made an awesome diving stick save keeping the score level. Dereham then managed to score a second goal giving them the lead with 15 minutes to go. While Spalding continued playing well with the majority of possession and multiple chances on goal, it was unfortunately not enough to get another goal.
