Report: 3rd XI Ladies vs St Neots 3s – September 20, 2025

Spalding Ladies 3rds kicked off the new season with a superb team display against a spirited St Neots 3rds.
Spalding dominated from the opening whistle but were thwarted in their attempts to break the deadlock early on by the outstanding St Neots goalkeeper. It wasn’t until the 28th minute that Spalding made the breakthrough when Khloe tapped in at the far post after a clever pass from Sam Foston left the goalkeeper marooned.
The chances kept coming and 2 mins later Spalding were rewarded with a second goal as Lucy McClements evaded the on rushing keeper for Jessica Pilgrim to make the decisive touch from just outside the post.   A final flourish to the first half saw a neat one two between Jess Worth and Lucy McClements to win a penalty stroke that was saved by the impressive keeper for a 2 nil lead at half time.
The second half saw Spalding keep their shape with outstanding midfield work by debutant and player of the match Lucy Wilson.  Sam Foston made it 3 nil in the 47th minute when she slammed home following a neat slip pass at the top of the circle from a penalty corner.  Debutant Isla Worrall made it four with her first goal for the club after determined dribbling by Jess Worth in the build up.  An excellent team performance to begin Spalding’s bid to return to Div 4 following their unlucky relegation last season.
