Spalding Ladies 2s faced a tough test this weekend against Cambridge City 6s, falling to a 3–0 defeat in humid conditions. The opposition struck twice in the first half to establish control, before adding a third after the break to seal the result.
Despite the scoreline, Spalding showed determination throughout the match. From the back, Leanne Isaac-Pick and Sam Maltby linked up well, putting together some composed passing sequences to relieve pressure and push the team forward.
Spalding made good use of the wings, stretching play and creating space across the pitch. Eloise Hull also provided an excellent outlet up front, making driving runs that unsettled the opposition. Her energy and persistence earned her the well-deserved title of Player of the Match.
Although the result didn’t go Spalding’s way, the team can take heart from the positive passages of play, the smart use of width, and the spirit shown in challenging conditions.
