On the penultimate game of the season, a depleted 11 man spalding team traveled to Norwich in what they knew would be a challenging game.
Despite this, spalding started very strongly creating a few chances with Stuart C converting the first short corner of the game. With their heads up even higher, Spalding defended their 1-0 lead very well, seeing a lot of pressure, before a ball given away at the back was capitalised on as the scores were put level. Moments later, a well worked short corner routine saw a deflected shot glide into the bottom corner. Despite the 2-1 score line, spalding were happy with their first half performance and were optimistic for the second half.
However with Spalding starting quick off the blocks, tired legs saw gaps begin to form and allowed the UEA attackers to get infront of the Spalding defence to deflect two very similar goals into the bottom corner in very quick succession. With a mountain to climb, the exhausted spalding team battled very hard until the final whistle in what closed a 7-1 loss, a score line that did not reflect the effort put in by all.
