One sunny, spring morning, Spalding Ladies 3s went out to play at Wisbech hockey club. Much needed points were wanted by both teams as they were neck and neck on the table.
The match started out which much energy from both teams. Spalding had some dazzling plays up the wings from Jessica Pilgrim and Eloise Doughty with play received from Poppy Hooker and Kiki at the back.
Chloe P controlled the centre and made some amazing passes to Lucy McClements and Khloe Brewster upfront. This lead to some chances in the opposition’s D, but the opposing goalie made some good saves. Unfortunately, the opposition managed to score three goals in the first half.
After a peptalk from Captain Terri Robinson, the girls were renewed with energy, even in the spring heat. In the second half, however goal keeper Eliza Morris made some miraculous saves.
Kelly Tizanno managed to play the ball around the opposition and became a key player in getting the ball into the D. There were some good chances and near goals. Spalding tried desperately to maintain their ground, but 2 more goals slipped in from the opposition. Spalding showed good spirit in the last 10 minutes of the match and managed to keep the score to 5-0.
