Match Report: Spalding 2’s vs Cambs Nomads (Rearranged Fixture)
On a cold day at Glen Park, Spalding 2’s faced Cambs Nomads in a rearranged fixture. The first half was a display of gritty defensive battling, with Spalding holding strong in the D, repelling numerous attacks from the Nomads. However, despite their efforts, one ball managed to slip through at the back post, putting Spalding 1-0 down.
Despite this setback, Spalding continued to show great passing play, moving the ball well and creating some promising opportunities. They managed to get into their attacking D but were unable to convert their chances, nor gain an attacking short.
Nomads remained quick on the counter and took full advantage of a break in play to extend their lead to 2-0.
In the second half, Spalding’s midfield showed excellent link-up play, and the defensive unit remained solid, keeping the scoreline from widening further. While Spalding pressed for a goal, they were unable to find the back of the net, and the game finished 2-0 in favor of Cambs Nomads.
Despite the loss, there were many positives to take from the game, including some fantastic individual performances. Man of the Match went to Tabby Green for her tireless efforts in midfield. Donut of the Day went to Kate Amess.
A promising performance from Spalding 2’s, and they’ll look to build on this as they continue their season.
