Newmarket 1’s (not Newcastle) vs Spalding 2’s
4-0 loss.
Before the game even began, spalding received a motivating pre-match chat from Vicky. Her words of encouragement were exactly what the girls needed to ensure the team was focused and ready to put skills they had learned at training into practice.
The match saw Newmarket take control early, scoring two goals in the first half. They had the first pushback and tried to take charge of the game right from the start. However, spalding kept fighting, managing to take possession of the ball and pressing Newmarket’s defending D.
Lauren and Amy played a crucial role in midfield, linking the defense and attack with ease. They distributed the ball well to Kate on the wing, who made some great runs down the side of the pitch. Vicky also continued to keep Newmarket under pressure by ensuring all players in the midfield were marked.
Holly, playing at left back, was solid defensively. With Sam, Grace and Leanne helping to keep the ball away from Spalding’s defensive D with some great wide clearances and hit outs.
At half time, spalding received a motivating chat from Zoe. Reassuring the ladies that they were playing well and mapping out what needed to be done to keep the score line low.
Erin, who had been working tirelessly throughout the game, found herself in the right place at the right time. Her hard work paid off when a ball, aimed at goal, unexpectedly came off her head and sailed into the net. Unfortunately, this goal was disallowed 🚫.
In an electrifying moment during the match, Camille flew across the pitch like Superman to show her commitment to keep the visitors at bay. This fearless act bagged the award of DOD.
Newmarket continued to apply pressure, with many short corners creating several chances. However, (man of the match) goalkeeper Char made several key saves to deny Newmarket having any further shots, showcasing her determination to keep the ball away from the goal. Despite Char’s best efforts, Newmarket’s relentless attacking allowed two more goals to be added, resulting in a 4-0 victory to the visiting team.
