Not to be deflated Cambs tried to fight back and stop attempts on the attacking D but this was to no avail and Spalding were awarded another short corner. Tizzano utilised a deflection on the post from Foston strike to make the score 4-0. Then Jess Worth finished at the far post after great work by Emily Wright in the D. 5-0 at the half time whistle.
An ever-encouraging talk from coach Tim Maltby, reminding Spalding ladies to keep their shape and use the width, see Spalding come back stronger. Within in minutes a ball to McClements from a Foston through ball went into the goal, 6-0. A few minutes later McClements tapped another goal in at the second attempt after a mazy run by Foston 7-0, completing McClements hat trick!
Cambs were tiring at this point but their heads and spirits were high and tenaciously tried to stop Spalding and score their own goals. A breakthrough came when Cambs got a run up to the defensive side of the pitch, but Holly Gleaves stopped the player in her tracks and passed the ball round the back to Poppy Hooker who managed to take the ball into the attacking D where she had a few shots on goal, resulting in a short corner being awarded. The short see Tizzano finishing after a Jessica Pilgrim pass from the rebound 8-0. A few minutes later McClements poked home after good passing between Hooker and Pilgrim, 9-0.
Clearly utilising the coach’s advice Spalding passed the ball around and wide, the Cambs side could not stop the play. Beautiful passing between Honor Pearson and Lisa Dean, see a ball through to Terri Robinson who passed into the D, where Wright pushed past the keeper after a great save making the score 10-0. This strategy continued to work with and a brilliant pass from Alex Baker to Worth to see Worth score from the far post 11-0.
Passing from Kiki to Hooker down the winger Baker see a short corner awarded, this allowed Foston to slam home another goal from Hookers short corner rebound, 12-0. A few minutes later another goal was scored by Chloe P after a fantastic battle by all forwards, 13-0. Then Tizzano’s managed to complete her hat trick, 14-0.
