Spalding 1 – UEA 4
Spalding entertained UEA looking to gain some valuable points. The game got off to an explosive start with Spaldjng struggling to keep running with UEA, this led to multiple penalty corners with UEA despatched to take an early lead.
Spaldjng showed great character to come back into the game and grew in confidence and won their own penalty corners which one was expertly finished by Stu Cunnington to make the game 1-1. The first half continued to be end to end with chances going at both end at both keepers providing some quality saves. Just before the break UEA got their noses in front as a cruel deflection off a Spalding defender on a penalty corner fell to a striker who had the simple task of slotting it home.
Despite trailing going into the second half Spalding continued to push and started the second half brightly but were able to finish past the keeper. UEA caught Spalding on the break and an mis hit shot found its way into the bottom corner.
Spalding attempted to get back into the game and despite the opposition receiving a yellow Spaldings cutting edge was lacking. As the game became more open gaps were left and it was ex Spalding player Tom Amess who finished off the scoring to seal three points for UEA and he obliged to celebrate against his old team mates in a splendid manner.
