A windy wet day see Spalding ladies 3s travel to Newmarket. From the whistle Newmarket dominated the game making some central runs and shots on goal but goalkeeper, joint MOM Eliza, made many amazing saves. Play continued and Newmarket managed to slot a goal in.
Spalding were not to be phased by this and continued to fight back. There were some beautiful passes between Sam Foston and Chloe P and down the wings to Elouise Doughty and Jess Pilgrim. It was not long until they were awarded a short corner where joint MOM Kelly Tizanno managed to score, 1-1.
However shortly before the half time whistle, Newmarket managed to score a second goal. 2-1 down at half time.
The ever encouraging half time talk from manager Michael Morris see Spalding come out strong with great passes between Kiki and Khloe Brewster but Spalding were unable to score. Newmarket managed to get past Spaldings strong defensive line up to score 3 more goals.
A ball managed to get through to forward Terri Robinson who attempted a shot on goal, where the goal keeper side kick found a perfectly positioned Khloe Brewster, who slipped it past the goal keeper. Unfortunately a Newmarket defensive player kicked it off the goal line. Spalding was then awarded a penalty flick. Kelly Tizzano took the penalty flick, being on a scoring streak, but the Newmarket goal keeper was able to save it.
Play continued and Newmarket managed to score one more. Full time, 6-1 loss.
Spalding will put this behind them and focus on the next home game against Cambridge South 6s.
