One foggy morning, Spalding ladies played away at March. Spalding knew this would be a tough game against March who were top of the league. However Spalding were not to be phased by this and started the match strong. Although the ladies dominated the first half and had a couple of shots on goal, March were able to convert a short corner and scored. Spalding did not let this deterred them and continued to pass the ball around that awarded them a short corner where Kelly Tizzano took her chance on the rebound to slot a goal past the March keeper making the score 1 -1.
March thought back and were determined to keep their winning streak by many a flying shot at goal but goal keeper, MOM Eliza Morris made some amazing saves with her pads and helmet. Even one ball managed to fly over the fencing into her bushes. Half time 1-1.
The second half see a frustrated March trying to bring the lead back but Spalding defensive continued to stop attacks on goal, much to March’s annoyance. Holly Gleave even saved a goal with a straight stick on the line! Unfortunately March managed to score 3 more goals.
Spalding did not let this affect their performance and managed to keep in the attacking D for the last 10 minutes, where March had all their players, but were unable to score. Final score 4-1 loss.
Not the score the ladies were hoping for however this is the lowest score March has won by all season! 💪
Spalding will take this into next week’s game and fight for every ball when they play Wisbech at home.
