Spalding ladies 3 travelled to Cambridge South and won 2 -1. Khloe Brewster had first push back with Spalding starting very strong, passing the ball around the opposition into the attacking D. Cambridge fought back and tried to add to the score line.
Sam Foston managed to get a good run up to the top of the attacking d, with a straight strike but it went to the right hand side of the goal where Jess Worth slotted it in to make it 1-0 up. The game continued with some brilliant passes between Kelly Tizzano  to Emily Wright and Eloise Doughty on the wing, they were able to play the ball down the wing into the attacking d but now other goals were scored. This took us to half time.
The star of the second half saw the opposition putting imitate pressure on the defenders. Poppy Hooker, Leanne Pick , Honor Pearson and Holly Gleave worked together to try and stop many attempts on goal and put man of match Eliza under pressure and Cambrige were able to capitalise a goal which made it 1-1. Spalding were not fazed by this and immediately put the pressure on the opposition team. There were attempts on goal from Eloise Hull and Jessica Pilgrim.  With the ball in the attacking D  it was passed out to Leanne who passed it back to Sam Foston in the D who had a shot on goal but the keeper saved it and the ball rolled toward Terri Bateman who managed a reverse stick goal putting Spalding 2-1 up at 53 minutes.
Cambridge tried to equalise the score line, but goal keeper Eliza Morris made some cracking saves include a ball that was lifted towards the goal but Eliza’s quick thinking meant that she  saved it with her hand pad. Spalding’s training shone through where they managed to keep possession on the ball until the final whistle end the game 2-1 win.
Next week is a slip week so the ladies get a will deserved rest and will be looking to come back with this strength and determination for the next match against Ely City 2.
