Spalding travelled to Cambridge to face an undefeated uni side.
Wise words were said in the changing room before the game. With vice Jacob Baker stating “lets keep 11 men on the pitch and be sensible”
2 minutes into the game Vice Jacob Baker got a 10 minute yellow.
Spalding fought well being a man down and saw the first 20 minutes out 1 nil down.
The uni side however were top of the table for a reason and started showing their level of hockey, scoring 2 goals in quick secession.
Half time 3-0
Spalding start the second half well and continued to defend the uni onslaught.
Eventually uni found their rhythm and started stringing some good play together and despite some heroic saves from man of the match Oscar Haunch saw the game come to a close at 9-0.
Spalding should be really proud of their performance considering numbers and tired legs and at the end of the day, playing an extremely well drilled Uni 1’s side. Despite the score, the boys came off the pitch smiling and united.
