Spalding Men’s 4s vs. Long Sutton 3s – Match Report

In a close and competitive encounter, Spalding Men’s 4s hosted Long Sutton 3s at Glen Park, Surfleet. The game was a tight battle from start to finish, with both teams creating opportunities. However, Spalding struggled to convert their chances, ultimately falling short.

 

Long Sutton managed to break through the Spalding defence in the first half, scoring the opening goal. Despite several promising attacks, Spalding couldn’t find the back of the net. The second half followed a similar pattern, with Spalding pressing but failing to capitalize on their chances. Long Sutton secured their win with a second goal midway through the half, leaving the final score at 2-0 in their favor.

 

Marco Mendoza delivered an excellent defensive display that earned him the Man of the Match award, while Lorenzo Mendoza also had a solid game in defence, contributing significantly to the team’s efforts at the back. Goalkeeper James Booth made several fantastic saves, keeping Spalding in contention and denying Long Sutton additional goals. 

 

In midfield, Andy Barlow and Dave Burrell played exceptionally well, helping to control the game and linking up play effectively. Simon Goode had a strong performance, consistently moving the ball forward and creating opportunities for his teammates. George Goode also worked exceptionally hard, picking up the ball and moving it forward to keep Spalding in the attacking phase. Brian Read made excellent runs up the wing, and Rafa Read provided great attacking pressure, pushing Spalding forward in their efforts to break through the Long Sutton defence.

 

Dylan Hind had a good game as well, contributing well despite a few tumbles during the match. Despite their strong play, the team will look to sharpen their finishing in future matches.
