Spalding went into the game with 10 players missing, largely due to International calls, and found themselves with a more senior side than usual against a well drilled and younger Bourne Deeping.
Bourne retained much of the possession, but Spalding were resolute and when they did break they managed to create several one on one situations- one of which saw the ball hit the post and roll along the line.
Bourne retained the majority of possession and Spalding required good saves from Rob Callaby to keep the score at 0-0.
Bourne took the lead ten minutes into the second half as the ball loooed over Callaby and in.
Spalding responded well winning short corners and from one of hear the ball was recycled and Matt Hicks slotted home.
With ten minutes left it was Spalding who got the decisive goal as Ben Scholes burst through and in almost slow motion the ball crossed the line.
Spalding continued to defend and saw out the game to defeat their previously unbeaten rivals.
