Spalding Ladies 3 vs City of Peterborough Ladies 4

One drizzly morning, Spalding Ladies 3’s was at home to City of Peterborough Ladies 4. The game started off with Peterborough dominating possession and scoring within minutes. Spalding defensive line was put under immense pressure by Peterborough where, joint MOM, Honor Pearson played outstandingly and stopped many attacks on the D. This outstanding defensive line was led by the confident Holly Gleave who was shouting commands at the Spalding team, leading from the back to help minimise the opposition scoring. However it was not long before Spalding ladies were 2-0 down.

Spalding fought back and managed to win a few short corners. Lucy attempted an overhead scoop into the goal but missed by inches. Soon after, joint MOM, Sam Foston managed to convert a short corner into a goal with a cracking strike. Making the score 2-1 at half time.
In the second half Spalding fought back but Peterborough was able to convert another 2 goals, despite the valiant attempts by the goalkeeper Eliza Morris, who every week does the Spalding ladies proud. Spalding tried to pull the score back by brilliant passing down the wings to Elouise Doughty and Jess Worth but Peterborough was determined not to let in any more goals. Final whistle 4-1 loss.

The team will need to analyse their performance, takeaway the positives and improve their scoring ability ahead of their next match, away at Cambridge.
