Spalding Ladies 3’s vs Cambridge Nomads 2’s
Another sunny game for Spalding Ladies 3s who travelled to Cambridge for their first away match of the season. Spalding were strong and showed off their training by passing the ball around the opposition, using the width down the wings, with many an attack on goal. Nomads were a tenacious opposition, putting pressure on Spalding defence and MOM defender Poppy Hooker stopped many an attempt on goal. However, Nomads were awarded a short corner that see them score the first goal of the match. This was shortly followed by another Nomad goal.
A free hit was awarded to Spading, just outside the D, where it was passed to Sharon Amess who sent a brilliant pass to Terri Robinson, positioned perfectly at the top of the D, who was able to send it straight into the goal. This beautiful play sees Spalding ladies 3s first goal of the season. Not long after this Jess Pilgrim scored a second equalizer goal to make the score 2-2 at half time.
In the second half, Spalding came out fighting and continued to pass the ball around. Nomads were not to be put off by this went and converted another short corner to make the scoreline 3-2. Spalding fought back within minutes with a quick run down the pitch to see the ball passed to Khole Brewster, who slipped it into the goal, once again equalising the score to 3-3.
Nomads fought back by scoring their 4th goal. Spalding were not put off by this and had many more attempts on goal, however their efforts were not awarded and this see the end of the match with a 4-3 loss.
Not the score Spalding ladies 3’s hoped for, however the ladies are going to take away all the positive play from this match and keep the scoring momentum going into next weeks away match.
