Spalding L2 1 v 6 Cambs Nomads 1s
Spalding started their league account against a Nomads side who’d been promoted with them last season. In unnecessarily warm conditions, the newly-organised team struggled to make an impact against their more experienced opposition.

Despite some crucial interceptions and tackles by player of the match Zoë Moore, Spalding found themselves 3-0 down at half time.

Amy Naylor worked well in midfield but chances were few and far between despite Lyn Sullivan’s best trickery up front. Only when they’d fallen 4-0 behind did Spalding eventually get a reward for their efforts when neat build-up play between Steph Wilson, Camille Rogers and Grace Hodgett led to the latter earning a penalty corner which she slammed home herself.

That was as good as it got, with some desperate saves and goal-lines clearances only holding Nomads temporarily at bay. Spalding conceded two further goals and know they have work to do for next week.
