Spalding ladies 1’s travelled to Kings Lynn for their first game of the season. After beating Pelicans in a friendly fixture 2 weeks prior, they had high hopes for a win.

Spalding had the majority of possession in the first half of the game, scoring their first goal after just 10 minutes of play. Erin M was able to push the ball in after a deflection off the post placed the ball directly behind the keeper.
Within 6 minutes Spalding had scored their second goal with an interception from Laura on the 16, followed by a solo run and powerful strike from the top of the D.
The third goal came before the half time whistle, when Erin M sent the ball flying down the left of the keeper after receiving a brilliant base-line pass from Lauren H. The first half finished 3-0 to Spalding.

The second half started strong and in the 43rd minute of the game, Ellie H had added her name to the score sheet with a solo run and high-powered strike at the top of the D.
Within just 2 minutes, an incredible hit from Laura entered the D. Ellie just needed one tactical touch to deflect the ball over the keeper and score her second goal of the game.

Pelicans weren’t giving up easily and Spalding continued to battle late into the second half when Evie M made an incredible save on the line. Unfortunately, Pelicans were able to find some strength in the last 10 minutes of the game which resulted in them scoring their 2 goals.

The team worked tirelessly throughout the game and were able to make some great links up the pitch. A great performance for their first game, ending 5-2 to Spalding.
