Spalding Ladies 2s played Haverhill Ladies on one of the windiest days of the year. It was a must-win game and Spalding truly rose to the challenge. Spalding worked hard with beautiful intelligent passes left and right, up and down the pitch. Everyone working hard was rewarded by the first goal from Eva Keyes who slotted in another one minutes later. Spalding dominated from the whistle and continued to do so with very little breaks through their back line giving Gaby Taylor very little action in goal. Some wonderful moments from Meg Moore and Angel Harkus showing how far they have come this season. Hennie Boekestyn was extremely unlucky not to get a goal with a very nice low reverse-stick shot. Leanne Isaac-Pick was consistent as ever playing the ball out of defence, and the Spalding defence of Dalton, Maltby and Pitts fended off any danger. Lauren Pitts also showed some outstanding play charging ahead a number of times and creating scoring chances. Angel scored Spalding a third goal today with a wonderful powerful strike and to complete the 4-0 win Moore, one of the youngest players in the team, slotted in a fantastic last goal making the home supporters jump for joy with a very secure win.
