Match Report

Spalding ladies played a home game this week against local rivals Peterborough. The game was fast paced from the first whistle and a strong physical Peterborough side tested and challenged Spalding in all parts of the field. Peterborough scored the first goal early on and Spalding midfield player Meg Moore was injured and no longer able to play.  Spalding had to up their game even more and adjust their positional play to stay strong. Spalding remained composed and focused and Grace Hodgett hammered the ball into the back of the net in a very sharp short corner routine to level the game.  After numerous amazing saves from the both keepers and several rescued short corners by Spalding's Keeper Abigail Hodgett, Peterborough broke through early in the second half with another goal increasing the heart rate of the Spalding side. Spalding began to dominate for the last 15 minutes showing their extreme determination with numerous chances and strikes on goal but failed to secure a draw the game remained at 2-1 making Peterborough victorious this time. Well done all.
