Match Report

Spalding ladies played the experienced and physical Haverhill side today for what turned out to be an extremely tough game in the heat of the high sun. Haverhill appeared to be dominating for most the first half of the game and Spalding looked very sluggish and slow. This spalding side knew they had to wake up and smell the coffee and fast! After more than a few chances at goal Spalding took a sigh of relief when Ellie Holland scored from a very difficult angle and finally secured a lead for Spalding. Spalding defence worked well together with Maltby showing her newly practised reverse stick which cut the ball out of danger on more than one occasion. Pilgrim was solid and nothing was getting past her today. After a serious sideline team talk about knives and whatever else eva could think off the Spalding side decided this game was not over and they were even more determined to beat this Haverhill side. This was evident through play for the next half with some real chances for Spalding but were fruitless. Most of the play was in Haverhills defence but they did break through on a few occasions making Spalding track back again to support. Spalding managed to hold the lead until the final whistle. Man of them match today was Ellie and a big thank you for our supporters. One more left girls!
