Lincolnshire Schools and Youth Tournament 03/02/08
Just a quick note to let those of you who hadn't already heard that our under 13 lads won the Lincolnshire Schools and Youth tournament at Lincoln on Sunday and will now go on to represent Lincolnshire in the East round for the first time since 1992 - when Matthew Pilgrim and Michael Morris were in short trousers. For the record the results were

Spalding 3 Lincoln 1
Spalding 1 Leadenham 0
Spalding 5 Boston 0
Spalding 4 Stamford A 3
Spalding 1 Stamford B 1

Goalscoreres Liam Forsyth 4, Will O;Donovan 4, Ross Gavaghan 3, Lewis Ratcliffe 2 and Ryan Mountney. Daniel Barkworth (GK) Cameron Green, Connor Allen and Alex Barkhouse were the other team members.

The under 11s played four games and came third in their tournament finding Lincoln and Stamford a little too big and strong for our liking.

Awards for All Grant received
The club have been successful in their latest application for an Awards for All grant. Receiving just over £4,500 which will be used for an Ethnic ‘come and try it’ scheme, in an attempt to increase the levels of participation in the sport in this area. The second focus will be on the junior section, with more tournaments in the pipeline.

Junior coaching
As the junior section of the club is expanding so rapidly, more coaches and helpers are required. All team captains have received a timetable of when a player from each team is required to help out on a Saturday morning. If each player in a team takes their turn, they will only have to attend one Saturday morning per season, which is nto too much to ask compared to the coaches who are giving up a considerable amount of time to help the club. So when your captain asks for volunteers, please speak up!
